More Volunteers Join the Team

51st Bath Scouts Volunteer Team is bigger and stronger than ever as we report our annual census figures. In 2023, 20 adult volunteers support our 68 young people. Each adult volunteer is opening up new opportunities and adventures for our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to learn skills for life. Some directly work with our young people, teaching, coaching and mentoring them in new skills and experiences. Other work behind-the-scenes, handling some of the admin, managing our resources, and giving valuable assurance.

Being a volunteer isn’t a one-way street. Okay, we don’t get paid. Not with money, anyway. But volunteers do get a huge sense of satisfaction seeing young people do well. Or when they pull of an event and everyone has had fun. Or, simply, when a Beaver tells them “look, I tied my own shoelace!” with a huge smile on their face.

I get so much out of volunteering” says Archey, a volunteer in our Scouts section. He was a Scout as a child and learned many skills. “I wanted to give back, but I am also still learning. Running events, managing a section night, it builds your confidence and gives you a great sense of purpose. I’ve taken a lot of what I have learned about working with different people into my work too.
