Our Management

51st Bath Scouts is run and managed exclusively by volunteers. Running our adventures isn’t as easy as deciding one moment and doing the next. We need to comply with policy and the law to make sure all our adventures are safe and fun for all involved.

To oversee and support our Group of all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and adult volunteers, we have the following team of volunteers.

Group Management Team

Group Scout Leader

Ashley Russell

Ashley is responsible for all the day-to-day management of the Scout Group, including line managing all the adult volunteers. He joined 51st Bath in 2014 as an Assistant Scout Leader, when we were just a Scout Troop, and has since led our expansion into a Group with Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and the biggest we’ve been in over 15 years!

Group Board of Trustees

Otherwise known as the Group Executive Committee, our Board of Trustees oversees all we do. They hold specific responsibility for approving budgets or out-of-budget expenditure, approving and reviewing our policies, ensuring we’re properly insured and ensuring we’re complying with relevant legislation.

Group Chair

Sam Ollason

Sam was previously our Group Secretary and has been a Trustee of 51st Bath since January 2018. Sam really enjoys being able to have a real impact on the management and the direction of our Group. Sam is really keen to work with the Trustees in improving and broadening our program of activities to continue to make them useful and fun for our young people. Outside of Scouting Sam is a Software Engineer for a Bath-based financial technology called Seccl.

Other Members

Our Board of Trustees also includes:

Lillian Weiss – Group Treasurer

Ben Mansbridge – Group Secretary

Ashley Russell – Group Scout Leader (ex-officio)
