A Founder’s Day Thank You

Date: 22nd Feb 2021 Author: Ashley Russell

Thank you

The Twenty-Second of February is Founder’s Day. It’s an important day for Scouts, as it marks the birthday of our founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell. Traditionally, it is a day on which we celebrate being Scouts. We also thank those who have helped us in our adventures. This year, our thanks to our volunteers couldn’t be stronger.

Ashley, Group Scout Leader of 51st Bath, said “The year since the last Founder’s Day has been tough on us personally, professionally, and as volunteers. I don’t think I need expand. The volunteers who’ve kept 51st Bath going – running activities, sending out correspondence, or making decisions – have been truly tremendous. Their time, effort and energy is incredibly valued, especially by the young people who’ve been lucky enough to have them on their side.

“I’m really proud to be part of such an incredible team. Out of all the adults involved in our community, they are the ones who have decided to step up and help. Selflessly, they give their time because they know that our young people deserve it. That’s no small thing given all life throws at us, even in normal times. The truth is, anyone could do what we do – but it takes someone really special to actually do it.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
