A Very Christmas-y Adventure

Date: 21st Dec 2018 Author: Scout Websites

Nothing could dampen the spirits for the 51st Bath Christmas get-together despite the weather being a little under par.

On a wet December evening, more than 50 young people from our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Young Leaders met up for some mid-winter fun. All had pre-selected either ice-skating or mini golf as their activity for the evening. They were joined by adult volunteers and parents.

The day’s storms had left the Bath on Ice rink looking decidedly lake-like but that doesn’t deter 51st Bath. With their skates on, the skaters headed onto the ice for an hour of whizzing around, also known as trying not to fall over. The penguin and seal skate aids were good fun, giving our young people a chance to team up around the rink.

Teamwork was also in evidence on the Glow in the Dark golf course where groups of four helped each other navigate their way around. The lit-up golf balls were a definite hit too. And luckily easy to spot when they went astray.

A real highlight of the evening was welcoming seven young people into the Scouting family. Two Beavers, two Cubs and three Scouts were invested, including some among the lit-up trees on the golf course. What a memorable welcome.

That’s a wrap for 2018 from 51st Bath. We have plenty of exciting plans lined up for next year. In the meantime, we wish our Scouting family a very Happy Christmas.
