Our Highest Adventure Yet

Date: 4th Nov 2018 Author: Scout Websites

On Saturday 3rd November, eager to climb, over 20 of our Cubs and Scouts met together at Bath Spa train station. Together, we boarded the train bound for Bristol. The journey was, let’s say, not without hiccup. Our connecting train had broken down and it looked like a long walk was ahead of us! Fortunately, the GWR team found another train, sought authorisation for it to stop at our stop and we were on our way again!

Crazy Climb on Winterstoke Road, Bristol, was our base for what would be our highest adventure yet. After a quick safety briefing and having got harnessed up, we got climbing. There were towers to walk on, timed walls to compete on and other walls that moved around whilst you climbed (which proved too difficult for our leader, Ashley!). We all got time to have a go on all the walls and had great fun trying to beat them (and ourselves) to the top.

Once the climbing was over, we took a short hike done to the local park, had lunch and played some wide games (including the hiding game Sniper and a scavenger hunt). We then took a leisurely walk back to the train station, boarded the train to Bath and went home – beaming from ear to ear about all the fun we’d had that day.

All our Cubs and Scouts had an amazing time and everyone left with new-found confidence, as well as some important Skills for Life, like facing adversity (especially on public transport!), problem solving and, of course, how to climb!
